How does cyber technology impact interactions between offenders and victims?

Cyber technology can impact interactions between victims and offenders in many ways. One way is that it can create a safer space for the victim. If the victim is on the right website with the right defenses they wouldn’t have to worry about any attackers. Most social media sites: google YouTube, Facebook, etc. will have a generally great way at keeping their users safe. They don’t promote bad behaviors and will punish them accordingly. Besides the safe spaces that victims have, there are also plenty of resources online where victims can try to get back what they lost. For example, if I get a virus on my computer, I can always get an antivirus to scan my computer and get rid of the threat. If my hard drive gets corrupted, I can try to look online to see if there are any local computer repair stores.

While there are a lot of good places online, there are also a lot of shady and scary websites too. There are a lot of naive and not so smart people on the internet, or some people just don’t know a lot about it. These people need to make sure they don’t click any suspicious links or else they will become a victim. The internet has also made it easier for offenders too, they can even be completely anonymous if they wanted to. For some offenders all they need is the victims IP address and then they have exactly where they live. IP addresses can also be easily found out too, there are some websites where all you have to do is click on the link and it logs your IP address. With some people not knowing how the internet worse, they can also get all their information stolen if they click one of these shady links, and they might not even know it happened until later.
