Entry #6

How has cyber technology created opportunities for workplace deviance?

Cyber technology can be very helpful, and it can create a sense of justice in people. This sense of justice can be very good because that person will want to keep going and help out more people. While some people who like to help others, there are also some people who do not want to help others and possibly hurt them. Cyber technology has made it easier for people to become deviants, because of many reasons.

The first reason I think it is so easy to become a deviant is because I think you can be completely anonymous. Being anonymous allows you to do anything online and no one will be able know who it was. This can be dangerous because you can leak private or important information and people would not be able to trace it back to you. A Lot of people will commit crimes such as SWATTING this way, they will call in anonymously.

Next the actual improvement to technology has also made it easier for people to cause trouble. This is because the improvement in technology has also made malicious technology easier to access and use. You could literally just put a thumb drive into a computer and then, there you go, you have all of that person’s information. You now have access to their logins and potential bank account information.  In some places the differences in technology are also very different. In some places they might use older computers that are weaker to cyber threats.

Lastly Cyber technology can also make some individuals try to hurt the company. They might try to implant a virus on the network to gain access to crucial data or files. The attacker might also be doing it for money reasons or black mail. They might also be using something against the company that they found from the initial attack and could be us using that to get money out of the company.
