Can you spot three fake websites and compare the three fake websites to three real websites, plus showcase what makes the fake websites fake?
Real Websites:
Fake Websites
- pay-pail.com (Pay-pal is spelled wrong, the display also comes in differently)
- Netflix-support.net (Adding a spoofed domain with a different domain extension. [https://www.aura.com/learn/how-to-identify-fake-websites ])
- BankoffAmerica.com (Adding an extra f)
Different ways to catch a fake website is by:
- Not seeing a locked padlock which usually means the website is secure, along with the “s” missing in “https” since it means secure.
- Typos in the address, using different letters in the link. For example, the extra “f” in BankoffAmerica.com.
- Pressure to submit and do whatever the website is telling you to do.
- Many pop up ads.
- Websites that come from suspicious emails that do not have the same address or URL as the real one.
- Secure payment systems.
- Deals too good to be true.
