Cyber policies refer to the set of guidelines, laws, and regulations regarding how individuals and organizations interact with cyberspace. Cyber policies are specifically implemented for online content regulation, data security, and privacy. Networks, systems, software, hardware, and individuals collaborate to provide the cyberinfrastructure that enables organizations to operate safely online. The “short arm” of predictive knowledge poses difficulties for the development of cyberinfrastructure and policy. The ability to foresee hazards in the future based on historical trends is referred to as predictive knowledge. Unfortunately, predictive knowledge is limited in cyberspace due to the evolving nature of cyber threats and cybercrime. Governments and businesses must adopt a flexible strategy for cybersecurity.

Developing policies and infrastructures regarding cyberspace should be focused on risk management. Risk management involves identifying potential threats, managing risks, evaluating their impact, and developing strategies regarding cyber-attacks. These hazards could arise from a variety of sources, including cyber-attacks, technical liabilities, managerial errors, and accidents. Businesses must base their policy and infrastructure development processes on the potential risks that can arise.

Investing in a strong cybersecurity infrastructure can improve an organization’s ability to identify and manage risks and increase its resilience against cyber attacks. By developing secure networking, organizations can safely monitor network traffic and user behavior. This enables organizations to gain a better understanding of systems and detect trends that could be indicative of potential cyber-attacks. It is significant for organizations to invest in their cybersecurity infrastructures to enhance their risk management and ensure secure networks are utilized. Developing a strong cybersecurity infrastructure will potentially protect assets, software, hardware, and networks from any cyber-attacks.

Due to the “short arm” of predictive knowledge in cybersecurity, it is crucial organizations take a risk-based and investment-focused approach to developing cyber policies and infrastructures. Unfortunately, cyber technology has had a major negative impact on society, such as increasing the rate of cybercrime. Users underestimate the potential risks of cybercrime and the effect it can have on themselves.

Cybercrime is a form of criminal activity that involves the use of cyber technology such as computers or networks. Examples of cybercrimes are identity theft, phishing, cyber harassment, and hacking. Cybercriminals are motivated by financial gain, pranks, espionage, or cyber theft. Through the utilization of cyber technology, a form of bullying was created known as cyberbullying. Offenders can anonymously bully their victims without face-to-face interaction. The widespread use of digital technologies grants cybercriminals various opportunities to conduct their malicious activities. As result, increases the rate of financial fraud and identity theft. Cybercriminals victimize individuals across geographic and cultural boundaries which makes it more difficult for law enforcement to prosecute cybercrime.

Cyber technology can impact interactions with victims in both positive and negative ways. Information accessibility can aid victims during the aftermath of a cybercrime. Support services can make it easier for victims to seek help and access resources. The aftermath of cybercrime can result in victims having a financial loss or stolen information. From a psychological and behavioral view, victims can experience post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, and trauma.

It is significant to understand how cyber technology can impact offenders’ and victims’ experiences. The growth of cyber technology will continue to open new opportunities for cybercriminals. However, users should be aware of how cyber technology can have a positive impact during a cybercrime. Various resources and support services can help users manage and assess the potential damage after a cyber-attack. Law enforcement agencies need to develop effective strategies and resources to combat the risks of cybercrime.

Criminal justice encompasses all of the laws that are in effect prior to, during, and following the commission of a crime. The primary objectives of the criminal justice system are to protect society, punish offenders and rehabilitate criminals. Our criminal justice system comprises law enforcement, judicial systems, and correctional systems. This specifically covers attorneys, judges, courts, lawyers, jails, and police. These systems work together to investigate, prosecute, and punish prosecutors.

 Cybercrime refers to a type of crime that involves the utilization of cyber technology or computer networks. Examples of types of cybercrime are phishing, internet fraud, identity theft, and hacking. The primary goals of cybercriminals are monetary gain, espionage, and political motivation. Cybercrime can have a detrimental effect on organizations and individuals, that can result in a loss of intellectual property, revenue, personal information, and reputation.

With the rise of cyber technology, it is significant that our criminal justice system assesses the potential risks of utilizing computer systems. This requires our criminal justice system to collaborate with technical enterprises to assess cybercrime. By doing this, we can ensure that our judicial systems are technically capable of handling digital evidence. In collaboration with technological industries, the legislative branch can create new laws and regulations regarding criminal activity on computer systems. 

Hackers have the ability to commit cybercrime anonymously from any part of the world, which can be challenging for our law enforcement to track down the prosecutors. This requires our criminal justice system to collaborate with foreign affairs to manage cybercrimes.

In conclusion, cybercrime has become a challenge for our criminal justice system to govern. It is significant that users are aware of the dangers of cybercrime. However, by working with law enforcement systems and technological industries we can safeguard the effects of cybercrime from individuals and organizations and ensure criminals are held accountable for their malicious actions.

Cyber security engineers are increasingly needed to safeguard our networks as cyber threats rise.

The responsibilities of cybersecurity engineers are to oversee critical technological infrastructures to ensure the safety of hardware, software, data, and personal information. Risk assessments are conducted, security updates are implemented, and cyber awareness programs are established to aid in making cyber networks safer. Risk assessments must be conducted to identify the potential risks and the impact they can have on a network. The engineers can then inform the following organizations on prioritizing security measures on their specific systems. Cybersecurity engineers also aid organizations in developing a recovery plan after a cyber attack as a lesson learned for improvements and updates over time. Creating a recovery plan can ensure business continuity following a cyber attack. Conducting risk assessments aid in creating security updates and patches to combat the known risks. Cybersecurity engineers are responsible for being knowledgeable about the various cyber threats that can occur. With their knowledge, they can create cyber awareness programs to educate users on potential cyber threats and safe cybersecurity practices.

Smartphones, tablets, smart home devices, and computers are all examples of technology that have impacted our society in both positive and negative ways. Communication, education, and home automation are now easily accessible due to computer systems.

Today, we are able to communicate with individuals from across the world with the push of a button through text messaging, phone calls, or video calls. Location sharing is a communication feature used in smartphones that allows users to share their location with family members or friends. However, users should be careful when enabling this feature as criminals may be able to track them down.

Online classes offer students the ability to take classes without having to commute to their campus. Computers have made information easily accessible through the utilization of the internet. Users can now educate themselves on anything they desire, whether it’s training for a job, looking up recipes, or researching for a class. Unfortunately, some users may use the internet to search for unlawful things.

Smart homes grant homeowners comfort, security, safety, convenience, and entertainment within their living environment. Smart doorbells let users see who is at their door without physically being there. Users are also able to communicate with whoever is at their door through their smart devices. The downside of smart home devices is the security vulnerabilities. If a hacker gains access to a smart home device, it can result in stolen data, invasion of privacy, or a home intrusion.

The use of computers has made our society’s way of life more convenient, however, it is crucial that users implement cybersecurity principles whenever utilizing a computer system. Enabling multi-factor authentication, utilizing a firewall, and creating strong passwords are all different options that users can do to ensure the safety of their computers and themselves.

Users can take preventative measures such as installing antivirus software, ensuring software updates are up to date, strong password security and having a firewall that can ensure the safety of their computer. Installing antivirus software can ensure a computer is safe from viruses and malware. Updating your computer’s software to the newest version will not only give users improved features but ensures security vulnerabilities are patched. Users attempting to log in to any kind of account that requires a password need to ensure they are practicing proper password security. Creating strong and unique passwords for different accounts and enabling multi-factor authentication are ways to practice password security. Implementing a firewall when using a computer is a crucial security feature that will monitor network traffic and flag any suspicious activity.

Users attempting to use a computer for the first time must verify that the proper security checks are implemented to ensure the safety of the computer. They must verify that the computer’s antivirus software and operating software are up to date and running. In most antivirus software there are programs that can be run to ensure that there are no viruses and malware on the device. Implementing security checks when first using a computer can aid in ensuring the security health of a computer.

Computers are being utilized at homes, workplaces, and schools, it is essential that users ensure the security of these devices to protect their families, their co-workers, and students, personal and sensitive information.

Ongoing expenses can be considered as routine maintenance of systems, cybersecurity awareness training, hiring cybersecurity professionals, conducting risk assessments, and system auditing. Routine maintenance is conducted to ensure systems are working in optimal conditions. Cybersecurity awareness training is significant for employees to ensure proper procedures and policies are being implemented when working with technology. Hiring cybersecurity professionals can aid in conducting risk assessments and performing audits on systems to test their security. These are expenses that businesses will need to pay periodically to maintain their cybersecurity program. Initial expenses are expenses that businesses will need to pay for during the beginning stages of their cybersecurity program. Initial expenses can be considered as software and hardware installations. Businesses should consider cybersecurity programs as an investment and prioritize their spending on these programs.

Workplace deviance can be described as voluntary actions that violate an organization’s regulations that can result in jeopardizing the organization. In the cyber technology field, workplace deviance occurs through insider damage. Insider damage is when a member of an organization utilizes their access to harm the organization. Due to technological systems, insider damage can occur without being face-to-face with another individual. An organization’s reputation can be in danger due to workplace deviance, such as information theft, hacking, cyberbullying, and cyberloafing. Information theft can be considered as personal, sensitive, or financial information. An employee can utilize their authorized access to databases, to expose these various forms of information. Hacking is the activity of compromising technological devices, motivated by financial gain or to rebel against an organization. An employee wanting to hack their organization’s computer systems can utilize malware or viruses to harm and compromise data. Harassment in the workplace is possible without confronting other employees through technology. Cyberbullying is a form of harassment that involves the use of technology. In the workplace, cyberbullying can be considered as sending threatening or harassing messages to another employee. Cyberloafing can be described as engaging in non-work related activities during working hours. An example of cyberloafing is browsing the internet for personal use such as online shopping or social media use. Organizations must ensure they implement proper cybersecurity measures to retaliate against cyber-attacks such as information theft and hacking. Monitoring technological use throughout the workplace can ensure productivity, performance, and morale do not suffer as a result of cyberloafing and cyberbullying. The rise of cyber technology has created more opportunities for members to harm their organizations, which can be challenging for organizations to avoid and identify. It is significant for organizations to have cybersecurity regulations in place, including cybersecurity awareness training and monitoring their employees for suspicious activity.

Nations across the world face significant cybersecurity risks, however, the severity of these risks may differ from each country. Compared to the United States, the Philippines has a less developed technological infrastructure and lower levels of cybersecurity awareness among its people. The demand for cybersecurity specialists has increased in the United States and the Philippines due to the increase in technological advances. The United States’ highly developed technology infrastructure and the vast quantity of valuable assets, such as vital infrastructure, financial institutions, and sensitive government agencies, make it a prime target for cyberattacks. Examples of cyberattacks include hacking, data breaches, and the use of malware for financial gain. The United States plays a significant role in the global economy and has a plethora of international relationships, making it a target for cyberattacks. The country’s large and complex infrastructure makes it difficult to protect against cyber threats. In the Philippines, the major cybersecurity risks include cybercrime such as identity theft and cyber-attacks on organizations. The rapidly growing digital economy of the Philippines and the increased usage of social media has made it an appealing target for cybercriminals to steal personal information and financial data. Due to the lack of cybersecurity infrastructure and inadequate resources, the Philippines is more vulnerable to cyberattacks. The Philippines created The National Cybersecurity Plan to ensure the security of infrastructures for continuous operation by institutionalizing information security and risk assessments.  “The U.S. Trade and Development Agency hosted a group of Philippine government officials on a reverse mission to study cybersecurity in the United States. The U.S. Embassy in the Philippines has a Joint Cybersecurity Working Group of government officials and U.S. cyber firms meeting monthly to discuss and address cyber issues” (Philippine Cybersecurity Market). With the help of the United States, the Philippines are taking the right steps to defend against cybersecurity threats.
