This is a writing intensive course that consisted of examining the history, concepts, and application of interdisciplinary study. In this course, I was able to improve my writing skills and learn how to apply different interdisciplinary approaches to a specific topic. Some of the most interesting topics that I have written about in this course had to do with social media and more specifically, Tik Tok.

Below you will find two papers that I have written in this course. The first is a paper that I completed which highlights the effects of social media on behavioral and mental health. Social media as a whole can have such negative implications on the lives of young people whether that be mentally, behavioral, or in society. In this paper, I discuss the problems involving social media that lead to things such as cyberbullying and peer pressure among adolescents. Also, I discuss the implications that social media can have on their mental health such as depression.

The second is my term paper in which I chose to discuss the effects Tik Tok has on children. It is one of the most popular and controversial apps out there right now. Tik Tok started gaining popularity in 2020 during the global pandemic when we were all stuck inside the house. It provided an escape to what was going on around us even now, it is still considered an outlet for creativity. In this paper, I looked at the effects of Tik Tok on children from three different interdisciplinary perspectives, including sociology, psychology, and political science.
