Our paper on composite sandwich repair using through-thickness reinforcement was recently published in Composite Structures. Manju and Aleric led the work on CMM group side, while Parimal with Dr. Kaipa contributed to the robotic side of the work.
Tricia Revolinsky (M.S. Program) and Chris Volle (M.S. Graduate) will conduct summer internships at NASA Langley focused on systems engineering and composite modeling. Congratulations!
Spring-2020 was very productive for the CMM group members. Five Master students defended their thesis and projects this semester, including: Chris Volle: A POST-IMPACT BEHAVIOR OF PLATELET-BASED COMPOSITES PRODUCED BY COMPRESSION MOLDING Aleric Sanders: THROUGH-THICKNESS REINFORCEMENT OF CARBON FIBER BASED… Continue Reading →
It was a great honor to receive Future Technology Leader Award from Engineer’s Council earlier this year in West Palm Beach!
Our work on composite repair was highlighted in CompositesWorld review of the past ACCE meeting in Detroit. As the contributor wrote: “In the cool-but-not-yet-commercial category, Old Dominion University (Norfolk, Va., U.S.) presented new research (partially supported by the Jeffress Trust… Continue Reading →
Our paper with collaborators from Case-Western Reserve University was published in Polymer Engineering and Science. The presented a spray assisted welding process of thermoplastics using microwaves.
Paper presenting a fast-curing, completely biobased epoxy adhesive that exhibit lap shear strengths of above 20 MPa was published in ACS Sustainable Chemistry and Engineering with collaborators from Case-Western Reserve University.
Manju and Aleric presented a poster on through-thickness repair and reinforcement work at Automotive Composites Conference and Exhibition in Novi, Michigan and Manju gives a great talk in the session on Bonding, Joining and Finishing. Overall, it was a great… Continue Reading →
Alex participated in Future Generation Symposium on Composite Materials in Shirahama, Japan and visited Kyoto University afterwards to discuss possible collaborative projects with colleagues.
Richard Larson (Ph.D. Program) and Benjamin Beltran Laredo (M.S. Program) will conduct summer internships at NASA Langley focused on composite modeling and characterization. Congratulations!
