The research work is centered around the effect of manufacturing defects, such as fiber tow imperfections, on the mechanical behavior of composites. We are working on the following problems:

• Understanding the mechanics of compaction and defect formation of the deposited AFP composites
• Process modeling of different stages during AFP process
• Understanding the mechanical variability due to manufacturing defects
