Alex received the ASC/DEStech Young Compotes Researcher Award during the past American Society for Composites in 2023. The American Society for Composites is a great place for researchers with a passion for composites, and this recognition means so much to… Continue Reading →
Vincent Cleal and Gonzalo Fernandez Mediavilla successfully defend their MS Degrees working on mechanics of compaction in non-crimp fabric and hot powder bed compaction of additive composites, respectively. Vincent has started a position of test engineer at Trident Systems and… Continue Reading →
ODU SAMPE Team won 2nd place in Open Design Bridge Competition at SAMPE Conference in Seattle.
Congratulations to Dr. Siavash Sattar who successfully defended his dissertation on Role of Structural Hierarchy in Multiscale Material Systems. Dr. Sattar joined University of Minnesota Duluth as an Assistant Professor in Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering.
Congratulations to Von for receiving Rao V. Arimilli and Lakshmi Arimilli Graduate Award in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. The award is selected based on the academic excellence and contribution to the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at ODU.
Saquib was selected as a finalist for the Best Paper Award at SPE Automotive Composites Conference and Exhibition for his work on fiber orientation reconstruction using deep learning. Great work and congratulations!
Siavash continues his productive year with another paper on the notch sensitivity in long discontinuous fiber composites. The study found unique notch insensitivity in LDFC with improved damage tolerant plastic behavior prior to failure.
Dan published his work on investigating the effect of sustainable plant-based graphene on improving the mechanical properties of high performance carbon fiber thermosetting composites. The study focused on mechanical and thermo-electric properties. Great work!
Pushpa published her MS-thesis based study on the effect of secondary compaction on the mechanical behavior of nylon based short fiber 3D printed composites. She found really interesting results on the effect of high temperature compaction to improve the mechanical… Continue Reading →
