About the 2022 Virtual Conference

Old Dominion University’s annual Spring Conference on the Teaching of Writing brings together secondary and two-year and four-year post-secondary teachers from the Hampton Roads area and beyond. In this, our 43rd year, we will host a two-day virtual conference on March 17 and 18, 2022, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. EST each day with the theme “Radical + Practical: How the Pandemic Has Fostered Better Teaching Practices.”

The conference will be free for all and participants are encouraged to drop in and out throughout the two days. We do ask that all participants and presenters register here. This will allow us to communicate with you about updates and to send the Zoom link to you directly.

We have chosen the online format again for 2022 in recognition of the increased professional, caring, and emotional labors of the past two years. Our hope is that this format will allow more of our colleagues to participate, and we hope to return to hosting the conference in-person on ODU’s Norfolk, VA, campus in spring 2023.

We will host brilliant teacher-scholars throughout the day who will provide informative and empowering sessions with practical takeaways as well as Teacher-to-Teacher (T2T) roundtable sessions in which a few presenters speak for about ten minutes each about a specific strategy, tool, innovation, policy, or approach allowing for ample time for discussion and questions from colleagues. Visit our 2022 CFP for more information about submitting proposals. We endeavor to make our conference more accessible every year, and we ask that presenters make their presentations as accessible as possible to a wide range of bodies and minds.
