Oceanography and Physical Sciences Building, circa 2000-2005

The Oceanography and Physical Sciences Building is home to the Department of Ocean and Earth Sciences, the Department of Physics, and the College of Sciences at Old Dominion University (ODU). It is located between Elkhorn Avenue and the Mills Godwin Life Sciences Building (MGB).

History

The original, rectangular phase of the building opened in 1997 and houses the Department of Ocean and Earth Sciences, the Department of Physics, the College of Sciences and other administrative offices. In 2009, a three-story, 58,000-square-foot wing was added to complete the now L-shaped building as well as an enlarged pond and drawbridge. The addition included new research laboratories and facilities for the expanding departments.
