History

Built in 1916, the Stables Theatre is the oldest building on the ODU campus. The building was originally used by the Norfolk Light Infantry Blues during World Wars I and II to board their horses. The facility was acquired in 1965 and was restored in 1976 as a rehearsal space for the Department of Music.
