Lacrosse is one of the intercollegiate sports at Old Dominion University (ODU). Lacrosse games at ODU are currently played at L.R. Hill Sports Complex at the corner of 43rd Street and Powhatan Avenue. The lacrosse team is part of the American Athletic Conference (AAC).

History

Women’s lacrosse began as an intermural club sport in 1978, having been brought to the university by field hockey coach Mikki Flowers. Two years later, lacrosse held its first season as a varsity sport with Flowers as the head coach. During the 1982 season, Mikki Flowers took over as head coach for Beth Anders while the later was attending the U.S. Field Hockey trials. In the 1980s and 1990s, there was also a men’s intramural lacrosse team. Prior to joining the AAC in 2020, the lacrosse team has previously been a part of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) from 1992 to 2013, Atlantic Sun Conference from 2015 to 2018, and the Big East from 2019 to 2020.
