Volleyball

Volleyball is one of the intercollegiate athletic sports played at Old Dominion University (ODU). Volleyball’s first season was in 2020, and games take place at the ODU Volleyball Center, which is located right next to the Jim Jarret Athletic Administration Building. The volleyball team is part of the Sun Belt Conference.

History

In 2019, it was announced that ODU would add women’s volleyball as an intercollegiate sport for the fall 2020 season. That same year, Fred Chao, who previously coached at Duke University and Virginia Tech, was named the first volleyball head coach. The team initially began competing in Conference USA but moved to the Sun Belt Conference in 2022 along with most of the sports at ODU.
