Education Building

The Education Building is home to the Darden College of Education and Professional Studies at Old Dominion University (ODU). The five-story building is located on the corner of 43rd Street and Hampton Boulevard at the entrance to the university.

History

Prior to 2016, the home of the Darden College of Education and Professional Studies was in the old Education Building, now known as Monarch Hall, which opened in the fall of 1969. Due to the outdated facilities in the Education Building and the expansion of its services and programs, the college moved into the New Education Building in the fall of 2016. The 120,000 square-foot, LEED Silver Certified building includes collaboration spaces for students, updated classrooms and offices for faculty, multipurpose auditorium on the first floor, labs for the Department of Stem Education and Professional Studies (STEMPS), and a board room on the fifth floor.
