Crittenton Hall

Crittenton Hall is home to the Naval ROTC program at Old Dominion University (ODU). The building is located along Bluestone Avenue behind Alfred B Rollins, Jr. Hall and is named after the Florence Crittenton Home for Unwed Mothers.

History

The Florence Crittenton Home for Unwed Mothers was established in the 1890s. After the organization closed in 1977, the home and its records were given to ODU. The home was converted into the Center for Coastal Physical Oceanography, where they continued to be housed until the home was demolished for new housing in the mid-2000s. At this time, the center relocated to its current home in the Innovation Research Center (IRP), located in the University Village. Once the home was demolished, the old Alfred B. Rollins, Jr. Hall annex became known as Crittenton Hall.
