Fight Song
The Fight Song of Old Dominion University (ODU), along with the Alma Mater and the Football Fight Song, is one of the songs commonly sung at ODU. The football fight song is played at all sporting events as the main fight song. Words and videos of the ODU Songs are available online.

History
The first mention of an Old Dominion fight song appeared in the 1967-1968 student handbook with music and lyrics by Bernice Ann Johnson. When Old Dominion became a university in 1969, the lyrics were changed from O.D.C. (Old Dominion College) to O.D.U. In the early 1970s, Robert Jager from the Music Department, composed a new version of the fight song with new lyrics. In 1988, Athletics and the Student Promotions departments created a student contest to change the words to the fight song, and a new song was selected in February 1989. The lyrics were written by Susan M. Free.
When President Roseann Runte revived the football program at ODU in 2005, there arose a need for a fight song just for the football team. During the 2007-2008 academic year, Alexander R. Trevino, Director of Athletic Bands, composed the football fight song, officially named Victory for Old Dominion, and was first performed during the first Monarch Marching Band summer camp in August 2008.
